John Conrace

Attorney

John Conrace received his bachelor's degree from Missouri Southern State University, in Joplin Missouri, a university with a dedicated International Mission. John majored in International Studies with minors in French and Philosophy. As an undergraduate he studied immigration policy in France, and ancient history in Italy and Greece.

John received his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2014, where he studied Immigration Law and Administrative Law, as well as studying abroad as a judicial extern for the Supreme Court of Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia and studying Comparative Constitutional Law and Restorative Justice at the University of Western Cape in South Africa.

As an attorney, John began his legal career working for the State of Missouri, first as an administrative hearing officer with the Department of Social Services and then as Enforcement Counsel and Assistant General Counsel for the Department of Insurance and Professional Registration (now the Department of Commerce and Insurance).

John's government practice included establishing and modifying child support orders, enforcing professional licensing rules, writing business regulations, and handling complex litigation dealing with topics ranging from professional discipline to holding company insolvency and workers compensation ratemaking. John moved to Mississippi in 2020 to be with his wife who is a physician and assistant professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

As a government attorney, John's duty was to protect the rights of the public. At Elmore Litton John is continuing this work for the public, turning his experience with complex litigation involving the government into an asset for immigrants and their families who find their lives and rights endangered. John joined our team in January of 2023, representing clients in criminal matters and representation in immigration court, including requesting bond redetermination, prosecutorial discretion, and defending Affirmative and Defensive Asylum applications.
